Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans marks the first all-star season since S40: Winners at War, and the nine-season gap between the two is the longest without returning players in the show's history. Put another way, there have been 252 people who played Survivor since the last time there was an all-star season (S34: Game Changers). Of those, only five were eligible for Winners at War, and three appeared. Bruce Perrault is the only non-winner who has played twice in that time, and he lasted less than 24 hours in his first season.
Functionally then, this is the first opportunity since 2017 that 248 one-time Survivor players have had to add on to their career stats. The record books have basically been walled off for them until now, but ... no more! (For 17 of them, at least.) And despite the new era changes making a lot of those single-season records unattainable (fewer votes, fewer idols), there are some second-time players on 50 (and a lot of multi-time players) who have a shot at to establish some new career milestones. So it's finally time to dust off ye olde career Survivor record books (web pages), because there is finally a reasonable chance some may be broken. Which titles are most likely to change hands? Read on....
(Sigh, before we begin, maybe lower your expectations as to your favorite new era or late-30s contestant cracking some all-time career leaderboard. Unless it's a non-counting stat, that's just not going to happen - with maybe one or two exceptions - not against the people in the shot above, or the others who already have close to 100 days played. But it'll still be fun, right?)
Speaking of longevity/ days played records...
If you're hoping someone can break records for total days played, the good news is: Boston Rob and Parvati (currently #1 and #2 at 152 and 149 days played, respectively) are not here this season. (Totals do not include Australian Survivor for Parvati.) The bad news is: Nobody's likely to top either total this season, either. Thanks, new era!
Ozzy Lusth (128 days played) is the only person who's even theoretically within range of those marks, and that would require him to last 25 days in a 26-day season. He would need to reach the final four. He's done that before (twice, even), sure. But is it *likely*? Not very, not in a 24-player season, at least. He should have a decent chance at making the merge, because challenge ability will be at a premium in the pre-merge. But after that, he'll need a pretty strong alliance to get much further. It's certainly possible, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Having said that, is it really fair to include Rob and Parvati's days on Edge of Extinction in Winners at War? They had been voted out of the game, and neither returned to it after that. To be fair, Ozzy was voted out (twice!) in S23: South Pacific before heading to Redemption Island (twice!) and returning to the game. (Twice!) Should we count those days, since he did come back? Eh, this is one of the many reasons why I hate the consolation bracket concept. For a version where none of these extracurricular days (Edge of Extinction, Redemption Island, and Exile Island) are counted, here's another leaderboard.
On the one hand, Boston Rob and Parvati are still on top (131 and 130 days, respectively). On the other hand, Ozzy and Cirie are both within striking distance, at 128 and 121, respectively. Note that in this case, "exile" days are counted if a player returns to the regular game afterward, which Ozzy did. Still, it feels a bit weird that with 24 players to choose from, and where two are now-four-time players Colby and Coach, who are at 98 and 96 days already played, they're already mathematically eliminated from reaching the 131 day total. Again, thanks, new era!
Idols? Oh yeah...
One area that could see movement on the leaderboard is in most idols found (career). Thanks to a four-idol first season, Rick Devens sits just one idol behind Russell Hantz, who has found five (again, not counting SurvivorAU). Shockingly, on a 24-player season, there's only five other people (Ozzy, Coach, Christian, Angelina, Kyle), who have even found one! Ozzy found two, played one, and voided a grand total of zero votes. Coach found one, never played it. Christian used a search algorithm, found an idol, and saved himself. Angelina found one, played it, but voided no votes. Kyle found one, Kamilla helped him open it, and he saved himself, voiding three votes against. I guess Chrissy was given a single-use super-idol, that she declined to deploy which sort of counts. (Update: Tiff and Q also both found idols they did not play in 46, as Pedro Padro reminded me, below.)
Rick Devens, on the other hand, also has some good vote-canceling numbers under his belt. On his four plays, he voided eight votes, which is just four below overall leader Kelley Wentworth, who has 12, and only needed two idol plays for that total. Christian is definitely within range with five. And again, Kyle has three. It's possible one of the 49-ers may have beaten that mark already, but those are the totals through 48, at least. Devens is the most likely to set a new mark, but if Wentworth can hit 12 votes voided on two plays, anything is theoretically possible.
Okay, fine, we'll get to challenges
There are a fair amount of people on this cast who have won a decent amount of individual challenges, though. Two of the people tied for the single-season individual immunity record (Ozzy and Colby) are on this season, for example. As is Chrissy, who is tied for the women's record (four). Might someone break one of those all-time challenge totals this time around? Sure, they might.
Individual immunity wins: As you would probably guess by now, as his fifth season approaches, Ozzy is currently the closest to the all-time immunity win title. The leader there is the aforementioned Boston Rob, with nine. Ozzy has seven, so he would need to secure the necklace three times to rob Mariano of his title. That could happen! Colby is not far behind, with five (that's right, none since 2001, so maybe winning another five is a bit of a tall order). Chrissy and Rick are next with four, so they would need a whopping six wins to take the title for themselves. Kaelan Lockhart just did that on SurvivorAU: Brains v Brawn II, so it's not like five IC wins in a season is some rigid, insurmountable ceiling. Then again, it is an extremely difficult path to walk, because if you've racked up four or so wins and you *don't* win one, guess who the biggest target probably is?
Individual challenge wins (RC+IC): Individual reward challenges almost never happen anymore (two max per season), and they're almost exclusively late in the post-merge, so just competing in one these days is rare in and of itself. But if we peek at the combined individual challenge wins leaderboard, it's pretty much the same spread as the IC wins one. Boston Rob is again on top (with 10), and Ozzy is second with eight. Colby nudges closer to the top, with seven overall wins. Chrissy and Rick aren't far behind, with five each, and Joe has four. That's probably the theoretical limit for contention, it's unlikely anyone will top seven individual challenge wins this season, but if that happens, we also have Charlie, Dee, and Kyle with three wins apiece.
Team challenge wins: Does anybody really care about team challenge wins, beyond the people trying to personally avoid Tribal and/or win rewards? Not really. But here's the leaderboard for that, career-wise. Ozzy's already on top, with 24? Go figure. Is anyone likely to pass him this season? Nope. Cirie's the closest, with 16, which is ... not particularly close, especially when chances are, Ozzy will be running up his own total at the same time. Coach and Colby have 15, Jenna has 13. Eh. Oh well.
Voting is where the real records are
Votes against (VAP): If there's one record that's almost certain to fall, it's this one: Andrea Boehlke's 15-season hold on the most votes cast against a player (VAP, career) may finally slip through her fingers. You see, Andrea's been voted against 36 times, which is a lot. That total was somewhat aided by her coming back into the game (briefly) after being voted out in S22: Redemption Island, but that only accounts for four extra votes. But guess who's right behind her on the leaderboard. (You already know this if you clicked, but nobody ever clicks).
That's right: One Oscar "Ozzy" Lusth. Who himself has somewhat inflated totals from being voted out THREE times the very next season, S23: South Pacific. But there's not really any reasonable way to undo that, and besides, he asked his tribe to do it the first time, so those totals stand. And Ozzy's totals are just barely behind Andrea's, 34 to her 36. Sure, it's possible Ozzy could leave the game in 50 with fewer VAP. He could be idoled out with just a single vote against. He could miraculously not pick up a single vote the entire game, then lose at forced F4 firemaking (unless the Fans who voted on this topic collectively had good taste). Jeff Probst could bring back "Do or Die," or some other stupid anti-voting monstrosity. Even with all those caveats, I'll be the first to say it: Ozzy Lusth has probably broken the career record for votes against. We will learn if that's actually the case in 2026.
Voting people out (VFB): The flip side of that equation is: Can anyone break the record for most people voted out? Maybe! And that person is most likely Cirie.
Depending on whether or not you count phantom (and/or actual) votes in a Final Three Tribal Council (sigh again), Parvati and Boston Rob are probably tied for the most votes for the booted person (VFB, career), with 27 each. Amanda Kimmel (sadly not here) and Russell Hantz (happily not) are right behind them, with 25 each. And there at #5 (with the third-highest total) is Cirie Fields, with 24. She just needs to vote four people out to seize this record for herself. On the one hand, she has a rich history of doing that, and with 24 people, there should be a lot of opportunities this season. On the other hand, her reputation precedes her, and challenge ability will be important early, which is not Cirie's strength. I dunno how it's going to work out, but I think she'll be close.
Two slots further down the leaderboard, we once again run into old mate Ozzy, who has 20 VFB. He would need to vote out eight people to own this record. It's ... possible, but probably unlikely. Strategy has never been Ozzy's strong suit, and in his last two appearances, he voted out just two (S23) and three (S34) players, respectively. In fact, in his *best* seasons (his first two), he voted out just eight and seven people. If Ozzy can lock into a power alliance early, just fish until it's time to vote, then vote correctly every time? Hello, all-time record! Can that happen? Eh, we'll see.
Two *more* slots further down we have two people tied (Stephenie and Coach, with 18). Either would require nine correct votes to break this record. As with Ozzy: It could happen, as there will be a lot of voting. But it's still a lot. But maybe! The only other 50 contestant who's even on the leaderboard is Aubry, with 14. Doubling that total would require her to match the all-time single-season record. Is it possible? Sure. Is it likely? Nope.
I know what you're thinking: "But Jeff, what about all the good one-season players who are coming back for the first time? Can't they get on the leaderboard?" The answer is: No. Thanks to the show's twin anti-voting and anti-returnee fetishes in the new era, only *one* person has even cracked double-digit VFB totals from seasons 41-48. One! Although (yay), that person is Kyle Fraser, who is here! He has 10 total, but he also needed Kamilla's extra vote to do it. There's a decent chance Kyle will reach the 13-VFB career minimum to get his name on the leaderboard, but it's pretty much impossible for him to debut at #1 by voting 18 people out in a single season. Unless production decided to have "lots of advantages," and that means Kyle gets to use an extra vote every time.
Times voted out: There is one more record that is currently Ozzy's, and one he's unlikely to relinquish: Times voted out. It's happened to Ozzy five times, but Cirie is right behind him with four. It's certainly possible they could end up tied after both making their fifth appearances (again, not counting SurvivorAU, here in Cirie's case). I guess that'll happen if (1) you volunteer to be voted out to game the Redemption Island mechanism, or (2) production keeps screwing you over with unexpected twists. Just more to look forward to in 50.
Jeff Pitman is the founder of the True Dork Times, and probably should find better things to write about than Survivor. So far he hasn't, though. He's also responsible for the Survivometer, calendar, boxscores, and contestant pages, so if you want to complain about those, do so in the comments, or on Bluesky: @truedorktimes
