The
weekly CBS trickle of ads has begun, and so far, all that's obvious
is that the reward (as had been speculated at MeSS) is the river-rafting
trip highlighted during the recap episode (see future
challenges page). Also from the ads, it's clear that the overhead shot from
the recap was the real one, and the close-ups were the decoy
(in other words, we analyzed the wrong set of people).
No shots of the challenge yet, but it's likely
three teams of three: on the red team, Taj and Tyson; on black
Brendan; and white, Erinn. (Below, we think Coach and Debbie
complete the black team, FWIW).

Visible in the actual reward boat in the ads,
with their faces helpfully blurred out, are three contestants
in yellow helmets: a woman who is not Taj, a muscular guy with
a green buff (Brendan?), and one other person, who's probably
more identifiable in HD caps that we don't have. (See SurvivorPhoenix's
cap here: it's Coach).
CBS swears the rewardees are "unlikely" in composition,
so at least Brendan and Coach should be there, which fits the
putative ID of the two rafting men as Brendan and Coach. One
of the camp shots (below) shows Tyson, Debbie, Stephen, JT and
Taj talking strategy freely. We'd guess they're the people not
on reward or exile. (Except it's not, see
below). That leaves
Brendan, Coach, Sierra and Erinn (although Erinn is clearly not
on Brendan's team in the RC, so it can't be her).
Updates: TDB at
MeSS noted that Debbie has what looks like a black headband draped
over her shoulder, and suggests she might be on the black team
for the RC (and that this particular shot is not during the reward).
And
VolcanicGlass (SPhoenix)
has noticed that Erinn is actually present
in the camp shot with Tyson in the center (below, left), lurking
in the shadows of the hut. So that shot can't be while people
are away at reward/exile, since six people are present. Oops.
Still, Brendan and
Coach look like a good fit as the male rafters (Edit: or not,
keep reading). Perhaps Debbie is a good fit for rafter number
three.

Who wins? Brendan and Debbie at least.
There has been considerable debate on the boards
about the identity of the last person (on the left, next to the
"TV PG" sign in the middle shot above). The clues point to Coach,
but either CBS did a cleaner job of blurring out his tattoos
than they did on the faces, or it's someone else.
The prime suspect, suggested by Flowerpower at
Blows, seems
to be JT. We thought the shorts in the above middle shot were
too dark to be his. But after revisiting this overhead shot from SurvivorPhoenix,
we agree the best match to the shorts is probably JT. We're not
really sure what's unlikely about that trio, but whatever. It's
not like CBS's synopsis writers haven't been misleading before.
So
we'll go along with Brendan, Debbie and
JT win reward, at least
until something better comes along.
