Samoa episode 6 detailed reward challenge spoilers/
speculation |
As
noted by hagiz1 at
Sucks and SquidProQuo at
Blows, an article and video at
EW.com reveal the big yellow and purple balls, and the tilting
maze tables in the production shots on the future challenges
page (which contains vidcaps from
the video) are all from a challenge scheduled to air on 10/22,
which is now, and as seen below, is shown with the actual contestants
in this week's ads.
The final version of the challenge involves
one contestant (Laura for Galu, Liz for Foa Foa) being strapped
inside the giant ball, with two other (blindfolded) contestants
pushing it. So the rolling person has to shout directions to
her tribemates. After rolling a brief distance, they reach a
tilting maze table, in which the (still strapped into the ball)
non-blindfolded contestant must then guide the rollers and two
more blindfolded tribemates in navigating a ball into a hole
in the maze. As shown, Dave, Monica and Kelly sit out for Galu.
So who wins? Nobody.
As cipher5150 at
Blows and VolcanicGlass at
Sucks point out, the print version of EW has a story on this
challenge, which contains the following passage: "By the
time the actual contestants played the game, it worked beautifully
-- until unrelated dehydration caused one of our players
to collapse and Jeff Probst had to stop the challenge
to get the person immediate medical attention [see what happens
Oct. 22 on CBS]. So, after all that, we never even got to see
'Roll With It' play through to completion."
And, as missyae had
spoiled, that player appears to indeed be Russell Swan.
(Although it's not clear that Foa Foa had anything resembling
a lead in this). The web promo and weekend TV ads show very clearly
Russell Swan collapsing and being attended to by Survivor's medical
team.
Jeff Probst's voiceover
in the ads describes this as "19 seasons... it was the scariest
moment I've ever had on this show."
