Samoa post-Episode 3 challenges shown in previews |
From
the TV Guide Channel preview there are still a few glimpses of
props/sets
for challenges that have not appeared on the show so far. For
the most part, we can't tell in which episode they'll be featured
(although never too late for a challenge board shot, CBS!),
but we'll run through them here.
| Ep3
or beyond - props for other challenges |

Black-and-white balls |

Painted and assembled black-and-white balls
(giant purple ball in background) |

Tilting maze table |

Big yellow ball |
These props are shown in the TV Guide Channel preview show, during the interviews
with production designer Dan Munday and unit manager Paul Messer. Basically,
we see parts from at least three challenges: (1) Large wicker balls, reminiscent
of the S3 Ep3 RC Kelly Goldsmith Memorial Dungball (and last used in Gabon);
(2) A tilting maze table, just like the one on which Coach won his one and only
individual challenge, prompting his "dragonslayer"
scream in Tocantins; and (3) the columns of white-and-black
painted turning balls (jumbo-sized tic-tac-toe?). Not the most
exciting batch, but there they are.

| Ep3
or beyond: "Do It Yourself" challenge |
We were informed by email (from reader
CC) that Probst mentioned another challenge in his TV Guide magazine interview before
Ep1 aired. Here's the relevant text:
"Anything else new this season?
We're gonna have a “do it yourself” challenge where I don't show
up and they arrive and there's just a box sitting there. Watching what they think
it means and how they decide and when to investigate it and what happens afterwards
is pretty interesting and a little scary to me I might add because suddenly, “Maybe
we don't need a host! Maybe we can do Survivor without Mr. Probst!” "
