January 25, 2006: CBSNews video of
a pre-game press roundtable discussion about Courtney, led
by Jeff Probst, with Mara Reinstein (US Weekly), Paul Adler
(TV Guide channel), Shawna Malcom (TV Guide), Dalton Ross (EW),
Jarett Wieselman (In Touch). Transcript:
Jarett
Wieselman: I think Courtney's very interesting.
I think it depends on how she meshes with the girls. And
I think she could either be the first one out or possibly
one of the final two. Because she's very strong, but she
could sort of rub people the wrong way.
Courtney (pre-game interview): I've
just had a unique life, um, from the beginning. 16 years
of gymnastics, and then world travel, and living a self-employed
life.
Jeff Probst: What I
can't figure out and give me your take on this with Courtney:
Is if she is comfortable with who she is.
Shawna Malcom: I didn't get
that feeling at all. It's like she's desperately searching
for an identity, and so she's trying out all of these things.
Jeff Probst: Which is
again, not unusual. Even at 31, you're still, we're all
still trying to figure out.
Dalton Ross: We grew up in the
same area and she went to a, uh, a very strict Catholic
girls' school. Uniform, you know, the whole deal. And you
can see what's going on, is that she's sort of realized that
there is another world out there, another side to her, and
so she's sort of going in that direction.
Paul Adler: I think a thing about Courtney
is that her outer appearance, um, I think is gonna fool
a lot of the contestants. I mean she's very smart.
She's kind of an urban survivor. She's run a theater company
and she's like, you know, built sets and she's, you know,
uh, made a living doing crazy, odd jobs. So I think that
the dreads and the hair kind of spiky might throw people
off.
Courtney (pre-game interview): I don't
conform. Basically, I just do what I want. And this is
what I want to look like. So, this is what I look like.
I'm just free, you know. And I enjoy dreadlocks, I like
the way they feel, I like how I don't have to deal with
them. And, um, I'm just funky and free, baby.
Jeff Probst: Do you think if two years ago we saw Courtney she had
the dreads?
Group: No.
Dalton Ross: I wonder about her Survivor
smarts a little bit, though. Because her luxury item
that she picked was stuff like firesticks and things to make
fire. I'm like, 'You
really think they're gonna let you bring that out
here?' You know, you really think that they're gonna,
'Hey, Day 1, here ya go!'
Jarett Wieselman: Here's some gasoline and a match.

January 22, 2006: Transcript of Courtney-specific
footage from the TV Guide Channel " Survivor: Panama
- Exile Island Preview" (featuring pre-game contestant
interviews and Jeff Probst comments from circa Ep1):
"Danni Boatwright: With her dreadlocks
and abundant energy, performance artist Courtney might be
providing the most spark on the young women's tribe.
Courtney (pre-game interview): I
dance with fire, and... I dance on stilts, and I do work
on trapeze. Um, I've worked for Cirque du Soleil, so
I provide a good time."

January 9, 2006: Officially
revealed as a contestant on Survivor: Panama - Exile Island on

December, 2005 - January, 2006: A
rough outline of Courtney-related contestant rumors and research
done in the S12 contestant thread and ChillOne's spoiler thread
at Survivor Sucks:
- On November 28th, 2005, ChillOne starts
the wheels turning with this sentence: "The african
american girl, military guy, rasta
chick, and asian dude go
... into the game." (edited in deference to spoiler-phobic
sensibilities).
- December 1st, 2005 - An update from ChillOne: "The
rasta chick is a blonde ... not sure of her ethnicity."
- December 15th, 2005 - Wezzie
adds: "I think Rasta girl was in LA for the Guatemala
finals." (This was later seconded by Survivor
View).
- January 6th, 2005 - Further details from WishICouldTell: " Okay.
Here's the thing. I (think I may) know what dred girl looks
like, but i can't really verbalize it. So. This is what dred
girl is gonna look like...Go to the Rock Star website, look
up the dred girl there, and imagine her with the following
differences...
- whiter skin (not Anglo white, but not black
or even half black; maybe traces of French Indian?)
- light brown dreds, rather long, to bottom of her derriere
- about age 27 - 30
- about 5'6"
- not a pudge like the Rock Star dred girl - leaner."
