As far as the start of the show goes, Wezzie (SurvivorMaps)
reported at SurvivorSkills that "The "dramatic opening'
may involve traditional Kabekl war canoes. Survivor asked to
use the red ceremonial canoe that belongs to Ngiwal. On 10/23,
the war canoe from Ngiwal was towed to Koror."
From the original preview and pre-Ep1 ads, it appears the two
tribes (returning players, newbies) arrive in separate war canoes.
We'd guess the new contestants show up first, because their rapturous
screams of orgasmic delight at seeing the "all-stars" seem
to happen when they're already assembled on the beach. And from
the TV Guide Channel's preview, it appears the producers even
went for the eye-rollingly painful step of bringing the returning
contestants out one at a time (with Cirie first - screams of
joy! - and Fairplay last - round of boos?). We're guessing there
will be overdubbed applause lines if the newbies were not sufficiently
effusive. Maybe they had applause signs, though. |
From there, buffs are handed out, then the first challenge
must then take place. From the TV Guide channel's preview, Probst
says it's for two individual immunity idols - in other words,
exactly the same as the very first challenge in Palau, which
Ian and Jolanda won. The carts are another challenge, and are
for the traditional tribal immunity.
The CBS-provided trailer on
YouTube (h/t MayanSun)
shows more of the start, with the full 20-person herd racing
from the beach into the water. And lots of shots of them going
through the water. Hoorah.

So who wins? Ozzy would be a favorite to win at
least one idol, perhaps Jason gets the other. This would explain
why most of the contestants don't seem to be putting in much
effort, because if you're in anything other than the top five
or so places, you're pretty much screwed.
