someone who was a contestant on Survivor 16: Micronesia? |

|
| Contestant-related press and rumors |
January 5 , 2008: CBS eventually gets around
to putting up their Survivor: Micronesia site,
which includes Erik's bio (below):
"Erik SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA
Age: 22
Home Town: Pinckney, MI
Occupation: Art Student
Erik Reichenbach was born and raised in Pinckney, Michigan.
He is currently in his senior year of studying art at Eastern
Michigan University, and is a member of the college's track
team. Reichenbach works at an ice cream parlor called "Screams" in
Hell, Michigan, where he also designs t-shirts, hauls canoes
and entertains his customers. He previously worked in landscaping,
construction and as a freelance graphic designer.
Reichenbach's
hobbies include drawing, writing comic books, rock-climbing
and studying philosophy/religion. He describes himself as
animated, earnest and familiar. He is very proud of his running
accomplishments during his senior year of high school, where
he set the school's 400 yard record (49.3 seconds), and being
able to run in the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Carolina. Reichenbach
is a member of the Eastern Michigan Cross Country and Track
team, Pinckney Pirate Track and Field Alumni and a rock climbing
club.
Reichenbach believes he'll go far on Survivor because
he is a good listener, entertaining, optimistic, athletic,
a creative thinker and can easily be a leader or a follower.
Reichenbach
is currently single and lives in Ypsilanti, Michigan, with
his cats, Furrball and Kittyfizzle (K-Fizz for short). His
birth date is November 27, 1985."

January 3, 2008: Entertainment
Weekly (mostly Dalton Ross) handles the cast-release
chores for Survivor: Micronesia. Included is Erik's pre-show
interview and Probst's comments:
"THE ROOKIES: ERIK REICHENBACH
AGE: 22
OCCUPATION: Ice cream scooper
HOMETOWN: Ypsilanti, Mich. (works in Hell, Mich.)
ERIK SAYS:
''I want to do this for myself, to grow up more. I haven't
experienced a lot of life. I haven't experienced a lot of
stress.'' (Trust us, Erik — you will.)
JEFF PROBST SAYS:
''Erik loves the show more than anyone I have ever met. He
remembers things that I did that I don't remember. He's a
young kid, and that young exciting energy is what's going
to keep him in this game and could easily be what gets him
knocked out, because he doesn't have the maturity of life
to know when he's being played. That's what he's going to
have to watch out for. Because you could see people looking
at him on Day One and going, 'Who is the kid in the green
shoes, for crying out loud?'" |
December
23, 2007: Erik is spoiled as a contestant by smokeitgood at Survivor Sucks:
"Erik Reichenbach (he insists on the K, both his myspace and
facebook names are 'Erik with a K').
He's 22 from Pinckney, Michigan (right near Hell, Michigan.)
Graphic design major at Eastern Michigan and is on their cross
country track team."
|
December 16, 2007: CBS
shows clips of the non-All Star contestants in their preview
of S16/ Survivor: Micronesia. Erik's blurb and images:
Erik: "I'm ready to go, I've felt... ready to do this."

December 10, 2007: In a post at SurvivorSkills, SurvivorFever
(from SurvivorFever.net) mentions having heard a couple of
new contestant names:
"I heard the same thing about Chet. Also heard the names Eric
and Jason, no last names yet."
|
2007ish: Erik takes advantage of Hell,
Michigan's built-in merchandising opportunities (follow this
link to see the actual T-shirt):
"Local artist and Hell employee Erik Reichenbach designed
this limited edition tee shirt. It features the ice cream topping
coffin in Screams, where you can create a creepy sundae with
bat droppings, bone chips, toenails and more. Good
Morning America named Screams one of the three coolest ice cream
places in America! 100% cotton."
|
2007: Information taken from his bio
in the Eastern Michigan University media guide for the men's
cross-country team (note that they misspelled his last name):
- Member of the EMU men's cross-country team in 2005 and
2006, and ran all four years at Pinckney High School. Also
ran track and played soccer.
-
"Erik J. Reichenbach, son of Richard and Marylyn... Has
two brothers, Richard and Kurt. Father Richard has competed
in intercollegiate track. Major: Art/ graphic design."

May 22, 2007 : Erik makes the following
admission deep within the discrete confines of a MySpace Survivor
group:
"I applied last season and
got an interview but that's as far as I got I'm fraid.
If at
first you don't succeed, .. go big or go home."
He's also apparently a fan of Brooke
Struck. (And, one might infer, Eliza Orlins): " Survivor has the hottest pre-law and pre-med student castaways
I've ever seen.
Awesome."
