| Survivor:
Cook Islands episode 8 detailed RC/Twist spoilers/
speculation |
Not
sure what the actual challenge is yet, but we'd guess the
"twist" will come about here. Which is, as described previously
on the "future challenges" page, Probst's offer of Mutiny:
For
another exciting, never-before-seen "twist," we
have Probst (in a traditional faded-blue and orange
ensemble) telling the tribes, "You have 10 seconds
to decide whether or not you change your fate in this
game." Switching tribes? Yes.
Would anyone take him up on the offer?
Apparently the answer is yes. We have been told that Candice
and Jonathan will accept Probst's offer, and
switch back to their original tribe, Rarotonga. This
will leave Aitutaki with the mere four players (Yul,
Becky, Ozzy, Sundra) seen at the Atiu
reward getaway.
Within Rarotonga, a campaign to oust all the non-original
members (Brad, Jenny, Rebecca and Nate) will then commence.
|
We
would think that this would take place before the RC, to
give the new tribal relationships time to work themselves
out.
Update: CBS seems to support
this idea: "A major twist at the Reward Challenge results
in betrayal and leaves one tribe stunned. How will this turn
of events effect the Survivors' morale?" Also, as first pointed
out by Modesty at
MeSS, the gasping shot of Rarotonga (at right) doesn't match
the sequence in which it was presented in the recap preview (i.e.,
it's from a different time than Probst showing the "bottle"
twist). And with the post-Ep7 vidcaps to look at, the clothes
and hair are a perfect match for what the Rarotongas are
wearing to Probst's mutiny offer. For what that's worth.

Shots
from the web promo show the challenge. Not really sure
on the sequence of events, but it seems to involve running
down the net at the start, releasing a large barrel (previously
seen in the recap), stuffing two members of your tribe
inside the barrel, then rolling it down the beach. There's
probably more to it than this, but as stated below, Aitutaki
wins.
One part that's confusing: there are roundish flotation
devices involved in this challenge (visible hanging behind
Adam, above), which look quite similar
to the bags in the IC. Helpfully, though, since half
of Rarotonga has to sit out, all shots of Adam and Nate
must be from this challenge.

CBS does seem to helpfully tell us who
wins: "Banished
to Exile Island, one Survivor worries about being away from
the tribe at a critical bonding time." Since the switching
seems to be all going to Rarotonga, they would be the ones
doing bonding. So the the massive 8-person tribe (the new Rarotonga)
apparently finds a way to lose this one.
