Cook Islands episode 2 detailed IC spoilers/ speculation |
Not
really sure if the challenge below is the Reward or the Immunity
challenge, since there's only really one set of challenge
images to work with. But we'll go on the assumption that
this is the Immunity Challenge, since Nate is dressed similarly
when he gives his pre-challenge "we have to win, or we're
screwed" assessment, and that better fits a fight for immunity.
The overhead shot from the picture-in-picture
promo (top left, below) shows the layout
of the course. Four contestants from each tribe are clipped
together. It's not clear which end is the start, but one
person on each tribe (Sundra for Manihiki, Brad for Puka
Puka) is carrying a bag. Perhaps they cross the course once,
retrieve the bag, then go back. On the bag-ladgen part of
the course, there appears to be some kind of puzzle table
(shown next to Manihiki below), a crawl under an obstacle (Puka
Puka), further bamboo obstacles (Nate and Sundra, below),
and finally traversing a rope bridge over a pool. The overhead
shot shows at least one structure beyond the pool (note that
the overhead shot is reversed relative to the rope bridge
shots).

So who loses? We see both Rarotonga and
Manihiki appearing to celebrate. True, Rarotonga could be
doing so pre-challenge (perhaps gloating about their captured
chickens?). For Nate and Stephannie's hug, the ropes connecting
them from the challenge are still visible, so it's actually
post-challenge. But is it a happy hug? That's not really
clear.
Since the vidcaps aren't much help, we
may have to look elsewhere. A CBS ad claims "Thursday,
a romance revealed at Tribal Council leaves Jeff speechless."
Sifting through the alleged list of romances,
that eliminates Manihiki from consideration, and vaults
Aitutaki (JP-Cecilia) and Rarotonga (Candice-Adam) up to
the top of the list. Of these, Rarotonga appears to be
right behind Puka Puka at the rope bridge stage of the
challenge, so we'd guess Aitutaki is the
more likely possible losing tribe.
