With
a merge taking place, there ought to be some format change
with the hidden idol(s), since there's no longer an
RC-winning tribe to kidnap anyone. We'd guess RC winners
just get clues, and since there's no RC this week, that
will probably have to wait. Still, since both idols are out
of circulation, the point may be moot.
The post-Ep6 TV preview did show James back at Zhan Hu's
camp (we would guess this was actually the last day of
Ep6, but whatever), trying to remove the idol, and Erik
actually having the thing, and showing it off to Jaime.
We're not sure what that's about, but it apparently doesn't
make much of an impact, since all three of them get voted
out fairly soon.
Update: As several
people have pointed out (here, here,
here,
and by email), the idol Erik is holding is a poorly-carved
imitation
of the real one James obtained last week, one that fails
to comply with the fourth clue's "etched finer" requirement
(and probably also lacking the "You may have already
won $1,000,000!" message). Which explains the CBS
clue: "The fierce hunt for Hidden Immunity Idols continues,
as private property is violated and one Castaway falsely
believes three Idols are in play." So there you
go.
