August 20 , 2007: Jeff Probst's comments
(made sometime during the game), as told to Ileane Rudolph
of TV Guide, in their barely pre-cast reveal article:
"Jeff's take: Todd is a Survivor superfan
who's wanted to be on since he was 14. Next to Courtney, he's
probably the smallest person here. He's
what you look for — a
great personality who knows how to play this game."

August 20, 2007: Officially revealed as a Survivor:
China contestant by CBS, as the cast is unceremoniously
dumped onto the CBS web site. From his official
CBS bio:
 "Todd
Herzog is an openly gay Mormon who came out shortly after
high school and won the hearts of everyone at his school.
He attended Pleasant Grove High School in Utah and then
two years of college at Utah Valley State College. He currently
works as a flight attendant. He previously worked as a
manager at a movie theater and at a major theme park.
Herzog has previously lived in Seattle, Orlando
and Denver. His hobbies include traveling, shopping and
drinking coffee. He enjoys surfing, biking and boating.
He's allergic to cats, rabbits and shrimp. He describes
himself as fantastic, amazing, awesome and super-original.
He believes he will do well on SURVIVOR because he claims
he is very positive, great at social skills and strategizing,
and he's willing to "gather wood and sh*t." He
thinks the Spice Girls are the most significant historical
event of the past 100 years and is unbelievably stoked
that they are going on a reunion tour this winter.
Herzog
currently lives in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He has one brother,
Tyler, and three sisters, Brandy, Kimmi and Tori. His
birth date is January 29, 1985."

August 14, 2007: An alleged acquaintance of
Todd's, jsfan11, signs up at the new, Yuku-ized Sucks to fill
in some details on his flight attendant background:
"I used to work with Todd. He was a flight
attendant with me for quite a while. I remember him talking
a lot about
Survivor whenever we would fly together. He loved
to travel and said he'd hoped to see the world. He said he
was going on an internship this summer for Disneyland Hong
Kong and would be quitting his job for it. He's super nice
and easy to get along with, but he has a snappy side to him.
I remember someone in first class kept saying he made their
drinks wrong and wanted new ones, after three times Todd
told him that if his drink was really that bad to get off
his A$$ and go make it himself. So he did have an attitude,
but did it with a smile. I've read on here that people think
Todd is a model... hahahaha, he's so not the model type,
plus he's short! Just because he's a total cutie doesnt mean
he's a model! Todd does love his coffee, he'd run into the
airport inbetween flights to grab a coffee whenever possible,
sometimes making flights delayed, hehehe.... I sure hope
he does well cause he is just so cool."

31, 2007: Despite a fairly high amount of online
activity during filming (on MySpace at least), we've uncovered
additional info that suggests the Todd Herzog shown above
is the same as the Survivor: China contestant.
Tidbits that may be relevant to his Survivor experience:
- He's MySpace friends
with at least a couple of ex-contestants: Rupert -
S7/S8 (page 72) and Coby -
S10: Palau (page 10),
presumably since before he was a contestant. So he's likely
a fan of the show (as his SuperSurvivorKid profile name from
the StarSearchCasting site below would also indicate).
- He has two dates of online activity during filming: 6/27/07
(which coincides with the first boot), and 7/21/07 (date
of the F8 boot). It's possible, however, that he allowed
a friend to access his MySpace while he was away. No evidence
of Facebook activity during filming.

July 25, 2007: Someone named Todd Herzog revealed
as a Survivor:
China contestant in a post by DanieuBleu at Survivor
Skills:
"ndroxs, Aug. 2nd should be the end of filming date, so if
we're going to Spoil them all before then, we'd better get
on the ball!

I haven't done anything extensive
on the name."

2007: Todd has a profile on the talent-scouting/
-hawking site StarSearchCasting:
 As far as the site is concerned, the only info prospective
casting agents need know about him are:
"Age range: 16 -
29
Hair color: Dark Brown
Hairstyle/Length: Medium
Eyes: Light Brown
Weight: 155 lbs / 70 kg
Height: 5' 9 " / 177 cm"
While this would normally
be sufficient to identify Todd as potential Survivor contestant
material, he also took the extra step of creating the screenname
"SuperSurvivorKid" for the site's forums (although he has made
no posts, as far as we can tell).
