August 21, 2007: Hometown paper the Spartanburg
Herald-Journal takes a peek at Jaime's newly released contestant
status:
"Viking grad casts off on Survivor odyssey
By JOSE FRANCO, jose.franco@shj.com
Jamie Dugan, a Spartanburg High School graduate, is ready
to outwit, outplay and outlast her 15 fellow contestants on the reality series Survivor:
China and hopefully win $1 million.
Dugan, a 22-year-old University of
South Carolina student, is one of 16 new castaways on the 15th installment
of Survivor, CBS announced Monday.
The series debuts at 8 p.m. Sept. 20 on CBS affiliate News Channel 7.
Dugan,
who was born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and moved to Spartanburg when she was
14, played varsity softball for Spartanburg High and was the editor of photography
for the school yearbook. She is a senior in the School of Journalism and Mass
Communications at USC and will start classes Thursday. She is majoring in public
relations with a minor in business.
Dugan's parents, Julie and Sean,
and sister, Jenna Evon, will be rooting for her every Thursday night. Jamie
is not allowed to speak to the media until she is off the show. She also has
kept her family in the dark about the show's outcome.
'She's a very athletic person - a lot of people wouldn't
know by looking at her,' Julie Dugan said. 'She's played baseball since she was young.
She's a good swimmer. She works out at the gym. She's well prepared to handle
any situation that comes her way.' The family said Jamie trained for the
show by exercising at a local gym, running every day, watching videos of past Survivor episodes
and working with someone on her diet.
'She wanted to make sure she was in top shape and
wanted to gain a lot of muscle strength,' Julie Dugan said. 'She wanted to
do this for the challenge. She's a strong-willed person. She loves working
with people, and she's very smart. I think she will have good strategies.' Serious training:
Jenna Evon, a 19-year-old pre-chiropractic major at USC Upstate, said her
sister trained for about five months. 'Although we don't know how she did, she was
in very good shape when she went,' she said. 'She likes
the outdoors. We grew up in Florida, so she was always at the beach swimming.
She's very outgoing and is one of those people who brightens up the room when she enters it. She
definitely would have no problems making friends with everybody. She's also
a lot tougher than people perceive.' Friend Joshua Ford, a 24-year-old
student at USC Upstate, also thinks Jamie will go far in the game.
'She's the hottest Survivor chick in 15 seasons,' he said. 'She
has a smile that goes on for days.' Also cast in the show is Erik Huffman,
a 26-year-old native of Greenville and a 2003 graduate of Furman University.
He is a member of the rock band Florez, and he resides in Nashville, Tenn. Another South Carolinian
to watch is Leslie Nease, a 38-year-old Christian radio talk show host from
Tega Cay."

August 20 , 2007: Jeff Probst's comments
(made sometime during the game), as told to Ileane Rudolph
of TV Guide, in their barely pre-cast reveal article:
"Jeff's take: Jaimie is a sorority girl
and she's proud of it. The flip side is that's she's very bright.
She speaks her mind and she actually makes some sense. She's
very flirty, and she's good at it. I knew
early on she was kind of the tribe mediator. She can hold her
own — she's
definitely not wimpy."

August 20, 2007: Officially revealed as a Survivor:
China contestant by CBS, as the cast is unceremoniously
dumped onto the CBS web site. From her official
CBS bio:
"Born
in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and raised in Sunrise, Florida,
Jaime Dugan and her family moved to South Carolina when
she was 14 years old. She graduated from Spartanburg High
School, where she played varsity softball and was the editor
of photography for the school yearbook. She is currently
a senior at the University of South Carolina, Columbia,
on an academic scholarship (she has Dean's List honors),
in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. She
is majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Business.
Dugan supplements her school schedule working as a waitress.
Dugan's
hobbies include cooking, kickboxing and photography.
She enjoys wakeboarding, softball, golf and fishing.
She favors country and rock music. Her favorite sport
is football. She describes herself as friendly, energetic
and candid. Her heroes are her mom and dad, who have
been together since they were 16 years old. She is a
huge University of South Carolina Gamecocks fan (she
attends every game) and also a Buffalo Bills fan.
Dugan
currently resides in Columbia South Carolina. She has
one sister, Jenna Evon Fay Dugan. Her family has three
dogs, Princess Pippi, Oscar Capone and Ottis. They also
have three cats, Milo, Jagger and Spitz. Her birth date
is June 30, 1985."

August 4, 2007: Prolific spoiler smokeitgood discovers that South Carolina-based Jaime Dugan, previously
speculated to be the Survivor: China contestant
matching SurvivorSkills' name, is indeed the correct person:
"Erik Huffman has unintentionally told us which the Jaime
Dugan on the cast is." (Click link to see a screenshot
of Erik's Facebook mini-feed, showing he recently added Jaime
as a friend).
Shortly thereafter, Sucks poster BrettEagles adds the following:
"I'm from Columbia South Carolina and have
actually worked with Jaime Dugan before. She was a waitress
at an Outback Steakhouse a couple of months ago. She mentioned
that she went to LA for something, I guess it was interviews.
Anyways, just to let you guys know, she's not too bright. Seriously.
She's gonna be the typical dumb blonde, hands down.
"Jaime did mention that she know Kellie Patterson
and Jamie
Hill from Amazing Race 10. I'm sure that's how she
got her in. She also said she did extra work in some movies
and music videos. Can't remember anything off the top of my
head excpet something with Outkast."
We note that she's also "friends" (at least as far as Facebook
is concerned) with Ben
Fagan from Pirate Master. Plus Todd, Erik, Mike
and Peih-Gee from S15.
