August 20 , 2007: Jeff Probst's comments (made
sometime during the game), as told to Ileane Rudolph of TV
Guide, in their barely pre-cast reveal article:
"Jeff's take: Ashley
is definitely fit. She told me in casting, ‘On a daily
basis I get thrown from 15 feet in the air and land on my back.
I think I can push some coconuts around. Put me on the show.'
She's strong and she's mouthy and she spends a lot of time
running around in very little clothing."

August 20, 2007: Officially revealed as a Survivor:
China contestant by CBS, as the cast is unceremoniously
dumped onto the CBS web site. From her official
CBS bio:
"Growing
up in Long Island, New York, with a father, brother and
uncle who competed in amateur wresting, Ashley Massaro
was well-prepared to make it in the World Wresting Entertainment.
A former gymnast, she competed in Miss Hawaiian Tropic
pageants and was crowned Miss Hawaiian Tropic USA in
2002 and Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada in 2005. She currently
works as a model and a professional wrestler with the
WWE. She came to the WWE as a contestant in the 2005
RAW Diva Search. After beating out seven other finalists,
she received a one-year contract with the World Wrestling
Entertainment.
Massaro tours around the world and appears
in front of thousands of people at arena shows approximately
four times a week. She appears on "WWE Raw," "Smackdown" and
Pay-Per-View Weekly. She has done a tour of Iraq, Afghanistan
and Kuwait, where she visited the troops with the WWE
for the United Service Organizations (USO). She was on
the cover of the April 2007, issue of Playboy. She has
also appeared in FHM, Stuff, Maxim and the covers of
Femme Fatale and FLEX magazines. She hosted several E! "Wild
On" episodes and appeared on "Breaking Bonaduce" as
his personal trainer. She has also guest-starred on CW's "Smallville" and "Extreme
Makeover: Home Edition," and she brought her love
of music to Fuse TV when she took part in a special edition
of "The Sauce." MTV's “Celebrity Death
Match” has also featured her in the claymation
series. In her spare time, she visits numerous hospitals
to boost morale, including the Bethesda War Veteran Hospital
in Washington, DC.
Massaro received her Bachelor of Science
degree in Communication with a minor in Business from
State University of New York. She describes herself as
spunky, quirky, optimistic, happy, resourceful, creative,
adaptable and relentless. She is obsessed with all things
music.
Massaro currently resides in East Northport, New
York. Her birth date is May 26, 1979."

June 18, 2007: Article posted on ProWrestling.com gives some further background on how Ashley came to become
a Survivor: China contestant:
"Details On Ashley Massaro Leaving
WWE For Survivor
The rumors regarding Ashley Massaro leaving
World Wrestling Entertainment for the upcoming season of Survivor are indeed true. According to Dave Meltzer, CBS contacted WWE
and asked them to send them someone that would make a good
television character.
With WWE already being low on male talent,
it was obvious that they would send a diva. Vince McMahon and
Kevin Dunn both felt pretty strong about giving Ashley the
role, especially Dunn. Ashley is not expected back on WWE television
until the end of the year and that is why she was 'suspended'
from SmackDown.
Speaking of Ashley, preliminary reports
are that her Playboy Magazine sales were a tremendous disappointment."

June 13, 2007: Enters a final pre-game post
on her MySpace blog (referencing, of course, the fake WWE "suspended"
storyline):
"Suspended...WTF
I'm sorry I've been so MIA. And now this. Things have been
more crazy than ever and gettign [sic.] suspended is just
the icing on the cake. I promise I'll write again soon when
I can. I moved to NC. With my family. Last week. So didnt even
have a computer for the longest. Just got set up and getting
stuff out of boxes now. Not living in NY is so weird. I can't
wait to go back to work. I miss you guys and love you. Thanks
for all the messages and support. That girl is dead when
I get my hands on her. I WILL be back. And she will be sorry.
xoxo

June 13, 2007: Celebridirt
site TMZ.com picks up the Ashley-on-Survivor story and runs
with it:
"Gazongariffic WWE diva Ashley
Massaro has reportedly been knocked out of the professional
wrestling circuit. It's a great loss to wrestling, and a
sad day for all humanity.
WWE
superstar Paul London told Prowrestling.com that Ashley 'was
written out of the WWE storylines because she's leaving to
be a contestant on the Survivor reality show.' This
could explain this week's 'suspension' of Massaro
on SmackDown! Fortunately, it looks like she's
kept her spirit uplifted.
WWE reps had no comment."

June 9, 2007: beantownpaul at
Survivor Sucks relays a rumor from pro wrestling news site PW
Pix that WWE diva Ashley Massaro is Survivor: China-bound:
"We're probably
not going to be seeing Ashley Massaro on WWE programming
for quite a while. A fan met up with Paul London a few
days ago and he said that Ashley was being written out
of the storylines because she's temporarily leaving the
company to be a contestant on the Survivor reality show on CBS. They're scheduled to film in China
this summer, and the season is set to premiere in the fall.
Here are details of the fan's chance meeting with Paul
London. Take this for what its worth now, until we hear
an official announcement on Ashley being on Survivor:
>A few weeks ago, I ran into Paul
London in the airport and we were chatting it up about
the biz. He was telling me about the moves that Vince had
banned him from doing, cruiserweight division, etc. He
seemed like a cool guy. Turns out he lives in Austin and
we fly in/out of the same airport. I ran into him a couple
days ago and was complimenting him on his three way tag
match last week.
We chatted again for a while, and I was talking
about him and Kendrick being a great team. When I asked
if he liked working with Ashley, he said they wrote her
out of the storylines because she's leaving to do Survivor.
Yeah, the Survivor reality show! How do you think she'll
do on there? She's already so skinny, I can't see her barely
eating any less. Has there ever been a contracted WWE talent
on a reality show? It's the first one I can think of. Anyways,
thought I'd share this news. Hopefully I'll run into Paul
again, he's a really nice guy. - Jimmy Boy "
