| Probst:
From the beginning of Survivor: Pearl Islands, we wanted
to shock these guys. So we told them: "You're still going to have
some more press to do, put on how you best want to best represent yourself." For
some people that meant... with Lill, she wore the Boy Scout of America
uniform. One guy's a salesman, so he went out and brought a great Armani
suit. We had a couple of girls in dresses. So everybody had the look they
wanted to best represent themselves. The only hiccup was, when they we
finished with the press, the game was on, and we didn't allow them the
chance to go into their suitcases as we normally do, and grab a couple
of shirts, and a long pair of pants, and shorts and a bathing suit. I say: "The
clothes on your back are the clothes you're going into this game with.
Here are your tennis shoes, so you have a shot at challenges. Give me your
personal items: I want wallets, passports, rings, all that stuff - anything
you don't want to lose," and then we sent them overboard. |

| Burnett:
When I chose the Pearl Islands, and I realized, oh
my God, piracy was a huge thing here. Both with Henry
Morgan and Sir Francis Drake, you
had two well-known pirates who literally ransacked and burned Panama City
to the ground. There's also more sunken treasure in these waters than almost
anywhere else in the world. When the Spaniards would come through and steal
gold, and sink in these waters. So, piracy was a perfect theme, and it's
fun! Everything from the tribal council, to the challenges, to the immunity
idols, all relate to piracy. |

Transcript (PG
= pre-game interview):
Voiceover: Cutthroats and hardbodies compete as Survivor:
Pearl Islands is set to premiere September 18th
on CBS.
Christa (PG): I have no problem with getting naked
on TV.
Rupert (PG): I'll lie, cheat, steal, beg, borrow...
to win.
Nicole (PG): If a romance should develop, whether that's
genuine or not, if it can help me get ahead, then I'm...
more than willing.
Jon (PG): I've wanted a million dollars, and uh,
chicks dig the loot.
Voiceover: This time the contestants must jump overboard,
some in street clothes, as they are shiprecked on islands
off the coast of Panama. Once on land, women rip their
dresses, and some men work wearing only their boxers.
(Clip from Darrah's audition tape: "Hi boys...")
Voiceover: Darrah the mortician auditioned in a casket,
Lill the Scout leader in her uniform, and Osten flexed
his sixpack.
(Clip from Osten's tape: "Physically, it's not an issue.
There is not an issue").
Voiceover: From the counselor for troubled teens to
a masseuse, the sixteen must scavenge for all their
food, or barter with the local natives. And the critters
and mosquitoes are happy to see them. Once again Jeff
Probst will send them home.
Probst (PG?): It's tough. And it is not for the faint
of heart.
ET's Bob Goen: And we can't show you now, but ET has
learned that in the first episode you're gonna see
some of
those people... nekkid. |
